The theme for my birdhouse creation was undoubtedly going to be “ocean” or “beach” themed. I had the great fortune to live on the coast of southern California for over 20 years. My beach birdhouse represents the healthy and fun activities a person can do while residing on or visiting the ocean. Millions of people flock to the ocean for serenity and socialization each year. There is just something magical about the crashing waves. I created a tiny piece of beach bliss to warm the heart.

My name is Monica Basaker and I am a transplant currently residing on 4th Street N. in Stillwater. I was born and raised in Michigan. I graduated from Western Mic- higan University with a BBA, Marketing and I immediately moved to California because it looked fun on TV. I had the great fortune to live on the coast of southern California for over 20 years. My beach birdhouse represents the three favorite beach communities I lived in. Manhattan Beach in my early twenties, Newport Beach late twenties and Laguna Beach where I married and had two incredible and beautiful children. I love coastal living and get back for a visit as often as I can.
